Following this initial experience, he returned to the university to complete his master's degree and subsequently rejoined the division in the fall of 2000. Since then, Mr. Baptista has taught every grade level at École St. Mary, spanning both the French and English streams.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Throughout his tenure, Mr. Baptista has been deeply involved in enriching the school's co-curricular environment. His contributions are marked by a deep commitment to both student life and divisional excellence. He has been instrumental in organizing the school Sports Day and intramural program, coaching basketball across elementary and junior high levels, and leading the school choir and spearheading community outreach events at local nursing homes. Beyond the classroom, his leadership extends to the divisional level, where he has played a pivotal role in piloting the new Social Studies curriculum and contributing his expertise to assessment committees and teacher negotiations.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Principal of École St. Mary, Mrs. Keira Bouchard, shares about Mr. Baptista: </span><br><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“We are ecstatic as a school community to have Mr. Baptista stepping into a formal leadership role at École St. Mary. A devoted educator in Catholic education, Dominique has faithfully served the division for 36 years as a teacher at St. Michael’s School in Pincher Creek. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of her students, embodying compassion, excellence, and faith-filled leadership.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Associate Superintendent of Faith and Learning, Aaron Skretting, praised Dominique’s dedication stating,</span><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> "Each year, Catholic educators from across our province receive this prestigious award in recognition of the significant contributions that they make to Catholic education. <p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">On Friday, March 13, 2026, staff from across Holy Spirit Catholic School Division gathered together as one community to celebrate the Sacred Liturgy and deepen their understanding of the structure of the Bible.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">This year marks the first of the division’s three-year faith plan, </span><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Open Wide the Doors – Sent to Share Christ’s Love</em></i><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">. Through this initiative, staff from all roles within the division are invited to grow together in faith by encountering God through His Word.</span></p><blockquote class="editor-quote" dir="ltr"><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”</em></i><br><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> — Matthew 11:29</span></blockquote><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The day began with a meaningful message from Father Santiago, who emphasized the importance of rest, renewal, and lifelong learning in our relationship with God. He reminded those gathered that faith calls us to humility and openness of heart.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“No one stops learning in relationship with God. We have received our registration updates and new registrations at a much higher rate this year than in previous years. We have been analyzing the data, consulting with our principals, and weighing out how we can best serve our students and families through this process of change. We committed to providing clear communication to families about their requests on or after March 9, and feel confident that we can adhere to that timeline. Families will be hearing about the status of their registration from schools shortly, if they have not already. As a reminder, transportation rules as previously communicated remain the same for parents making requests for out-of-boundary registration; no transportation will be provided, other than for grandfathered students. </em></i></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We are excited for the future of our schools in Lethbridge and across the division.&nbsp;</em></i></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p>

As part of a provincial rollout of 476 specialized teams, our division has been allocated five new Complexity Teams, representing a transformative and hopeful step forward for our students, staff, and families.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Each team, comprised of one teacher and two educational assistants, will be strategically integrated into our classrooms. He holds both a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge, and recently completed his Master of Education in Educational Leadership. His graduate work focused on instructional leadership, systems development, evidence-informed practice, and fostering collaborative, learning-centered school communities.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">With more than 15 years in education, Mr. Harper has served students across multiple divisions and grade levels. He began his career in Livingstone Range School Division at the elementary level and later taught Grades 2 through 12 in Palliser School Division, gaining broad experience in diverse learning environments. He joined Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in 2015 at St. Francis Junior High School and, in 2022, was appointed Associate Principal at École St. Mary, where he has played an integral role in nurturing school culture and supporting student success.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Superintendent Chantel Axani shared her enthusiasm for the appointment,</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“It is a profound honor to welcome Justin as the Associate Principal of St. Kateri Elementary School, a role where his deep commitment to the Holy Spirit Catholic community will truly shine. Mrs. Calder will assume her role in August 2026. A dedicated Catholic educator and leader, Mrs. Calder brings a wealth of experience, faith-filled leadership, and deep community roots to this exciting new venture.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Mrs. Calder holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Educational Leadership. She has taught Grades 1 through 12 across three Southern Alberta school divisions and has a strong background in Fine Arts education.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Calder has contributed to Zone 6 curriculum development committees in both Social Studies and Fine Arts.
