Clubs and Activities at Ecole St.Mary for the 2019/2020 School Year

Intramurals

In order to allow all students to participate, the days in which students can participate is as follows: During the month of January - Wednesday's - Div 1 (Grade 1-3) from 12:07-12:30, Thursday's - Div 2 (Grade 4-6) from 11:45-12:07.

Basketball
Our teams learn the basics of basketball technique, cooperation and good sportsmanship, while experiencing the community spirit of being part of a team, and pride in representing our school. During the season, which typically runs from January to March, our boys and girls teams play home and away games with other schools in the city. The teams are open to grade 6 students first and then grade 5 students if there is space. The philosophy is that everyone who wishes can join the teams and all receive equal playing time.

Badminton
Students learn basic skills and enjoy competing with one another. This activity, which is open to grade 3-6 students, usually takes place in the month of May. The students meet after school from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Running Club
In conjunction with Little Souls Kids' Marathon, École St. Mary is excited to offer our own running club. Students who sign up will receive a log sheet to record his/her weekly running mileage. For those students who go on to participate in the Kids' Marathon this mileage can also be used toward the mileage required for the marathon. Training runs take place during activity time. The season runs from September until mid-May - with a break for winter. Sweats or shorts and proper running shoes are required.

Volleyball
Here at École St. Mary we have decided to offer a new program to the grade six students, an after school volleyball program. Mondays and Wednesdays, from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, was set aside to allow any of the grade six boys to attend, while the grade six girls were allowed to attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.

The program began in October and is scheduled to continue until the end of November. Presently, there have been eighteen boys and twelve girls who have attended. The main intent of the program is to introduce students to the fundamental skills and then incorporate these into game situations.
